Busy Friday? Join us for a special triple-header Furry Friday!
The March Furry Friday Art Exhibition & Open House is the last one before it turns three years old! To mark the occasion, we've scheduled a special triple-feature event! Our March artist, Sabra Perreten Lantz, will show her oils and pastels with a special "hero dogs and helper dogs" section. She will be joined by the HSBC's good friend, Adrienne Trafford, who will providing a sneak peek at the design for the HUGE Tuscan landscape mural being incorporated into the new LaVigna Dog Adoption Center. Plus, she'll show some of her new additions to our cadre of "spokespets".
As if that wasn't enough, our usual yummy spread will be extra special this time with a tasting of food by Chef Steve Yeanish. Chef Steve will be signing copies of his new cookbook, "A Culinary Journey". Enjoy a bite to eat, have a sip on our friends at Legacy Brewing and Barefoot Wine, and say hello to the animals! Furry Friday is this Friday, March 14, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. It's fun and free, so join us and bring some friends!

New Pet Bereavement Partnership FairView Counseling joins the HSBC to expand service
One of the most important programs undertaken by the HSBC over the past year has been its Pet Loss and Bereavement support program. We all know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet and this service helps those in need by providing support and helping cope with a devastating loss.
To expand access to the service, the HSBC has partnered with FairView Counseling, a non-profit organization in Reading. Meetings will now be held at FairView's beautiful and welcoming facility. This will allow for greater attendance, daytime and weekend meetings to make things easier on working families and seniors, and the ability to provide individual counseling if needed.

A Vote At Last!
Ask PA Senators to end Berks County's embarrassment!
At long last, the Senate Judiciary Committee is bringing SB 1150 up for a vote! This Bill would finally outlaw pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania and Berks County- the last haven for pigeon shoots in the United States.
The vote is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18. Half of the Senators on the Judiciary Committee are co-sponsors but we need every single vote. We need you to contact these Senators and ask them to support the SB 1150 and to make sure that they send in their proxy "yes" vote if they cannot attend the Committee meeting personally.
Once (if!) SB 1150 makes it out of Committee to a full vote of the Pennsylvania Senate, we still need every possible vote. In Berks County, only one of four Senators has publicly committed one way or the other on SB 1150 (Senator Rafferty is a co-sponsor- thank you!). We elect representatives to take a stand. Tell your Senator that you expect his or her support in passing SB 1150.
You might have heard that there is an election coming up in Pennsylvania- you can bet your Senator or Representative has. Take your elected official's decision on what vote to cast on SB 1150 with you when it's your turn in the voting both and you have to decide how to cast your vote.
