Dear Karel & Kimberly,

Welcome to the Humane Society of Berks County's Kennel Kapers Online! We hope that you find it useful, informative, and that it will give you a better idea of our efforts to save the thousands of homeless, abused and neglected animals needing our help each year.

These newsletters normally arrive every two to three weeks. However, we occasionally send out a "special bulletin", like this Thanks and Invitation issue. Sometimes you have to take a minute to thank your true friends for going above and beyond and this weekend, we had three good friends do just that! Thank you for taking the time to read on!

 Thank You Number One!
Scott's Auto Wash & Lube's Wash for the Animals

Scott Egolf and Mascot Our first thank you goes to our friends (and major dog lovers) at Scott's Auto Wash & Lube in Exeter and Bechtelsville. This past Saturday they hosted the second Wash for the Animals and raised about $3,000 for the animals of the HSBC!

The funds Scott's donated will be used to support vital services that help the animals and people of Berks County and beyond. If you need your car washed or lubed, please remember that Scott's has been here for the animals and take a spin to one of their locations. Tell them the animals sent you! A big thank you to Scott Egolf (left) and his family!!

 Thank You Number Two!
Skyline Drive Corvette Club puts their motors where their mouths are!

hot vette Dogs and fast cars aren't alway the safest combination but for the 5th year in a row, fast cars were a dog's best friend! Once again, Linda Spangenberg and everyone at Skyline Drive Corvette Club put together a great show and raised over $2,500 for the animals!

We can't say enough how much this sort of financial help means to our programs-- especially during the warmer summer months between HSBC appeals and fundraisers. Linda and Skyline Corvettes know that dollars save lives and their ongoing support is helping to save many, many lives! Thank you, Linda and Skyline!

 Thank You Number Three!
Comcast's Select On Demand pet adoption videos save lives!

Happy Macho Our third thank you goes to Comcast for selecting the HSBC from among dozens of shelters in our region to join only nine other animal welfare organizations from around the country participating in the Adoption Videos On Demand service! Videos of adoptable animals are featured through Comcast free and any time to Comcast viewers.

Shortly after the first On Demand videos began airing, we adopted Macho to a great family from Delaware who saw him and drove all the way to our Reading shelter to see him! These videos will help us save even more lives and Comcast is to be applauded for making this service available and for recognizing the quality and strength of our shelter services and programs by choosing to partner with us. Thank you, Comcast!

 Finally, An Invitation!
Join us Friday, June 8, for Furry Friday featuring Linda Heberling

Heberling Finally, an invitation! We are inviting you to join us this Friday, May 8, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at the Humane Society for our June Furry Friday Open House & Art Exhibition! We are especially inviting those of you who are new to our e-news list and have never attended. Furry Fridays are a blast!

Furry Friday is free and open to the public, showcases fantastic art by the area's best artists, and gives you a chance to get the inside scoop on new things happening at the HSBC. Stop in this Friday for a great draft beer or glass of wine, some awesome food, say, "Hi!" to the animals, and get the latest on the HSBC's adoption kennel renovation plans this winter!

Furry Fridays wouldn't be possible without the generous support of our corporate friends and partners (check out Quick Links at left) and the arts community. Our special thanks to them all. Please, swing by after work and join us this Friday!
