Dear Karel,
The pleasure of your company is requested! The HSBC welcomes you to join us for two great, free events: Today's Furry Friday Open House & Art Exhibition and our Thanks-For-Giving Volunteer Appreciation Reception on the 29th. Come early, come late-- but please do join us! |
Furry Friday Open House & Art Exhibition
Featuring the fantastic photography of Robert Eck
Tonight, Friday, November 9, from 5:00 to 7:30, you can join us and the animals for the opening of the amazing photography of Bob Eck. Have a drink, eat some food, check out the art (maybe buy a piece or two and benefit the HSBC), and say, "Hi!" to the animals!
Bring a friend or three for one of the best darn arts series in Berks County! This Furry Friday might just be the last one you'll get to attend before the construction of the LaVigna Dog Adoption Center this winter (below). Come say goodbye to the old kennels! RSVPs are not required but are appreciated at rduffie@berkshumane.org.

Thanks-For-Giving Volunteer Appreciation Reception & Awards First Golden Bone Award to be Presented
Please join the staff and board of the Humane Society of Berks County as we celebrate our 3rd annual Thanks-For-Giving
Volunteer Appreciation Reception on Thursday, November 29, 2007 beginning at 6:00 PM. Our volunteers are the life blood of the HSBC's mission and this is the one time each year we can bring them together (without asking them to work!) so we can just say, "Thank You!"
Enjoy some great food and drink, say "Hi!" to the animals, and stick around for the awards ceremony at 6:30 when we will recognize a few of our dedicated volunteers with some light-hearted awards. This year we will also be presenting the first "Golden Bone Award", recognizing an outstanding contribution to animals or animal welfare by an individual, business, or organization. The 2007 award will be presented to the Reading Eagle Company in recognition of its outstanding news coverage of animal welfare issues and its editorial leadership on important animal issues over the past year.

Following the awards there will be a ceremonial groundbreaking for the construction of the new Joni LaVigna Dog Adoption Center. The LaVigna Center is named in honor of the HSBC's dedicated Chief Humane Officer, who recently passed away. We hope that you will join us and Joni's family for this appreciation of her life's work.
Please RSVP via email at rduffie@berkshumane.org or phone at 610-921-2348, ext. 23.
Thank you for all you have done for the animals! See you soon!
